FFA Fact Sheet
Who We Are
Food For All DC (FFA) is a nonprofit dedicated to reducing food insecurity and promoting holistic wellness for the most vulnerable residents of Washington, D.C. Since 1984, FFA has provided nutritious groceries and meaningful human connection to people who are homebound or otherwise marginalized.
Our Mission
To provide food assistance to people who are food insecure, offer meaningful civic engagement for volunteers, and build bonds of solidarity with like-minded organizations across the Washington, D.C. region.
Core Services
- Home Delivery of Groceries: Over 9,300 home deliveries were completed in 2024, supporting more than 1,200 clients weekly across all eight D.C. wards. Each 30–35 lb. grocery bag includes shelf-stable items and fresh produce, customized for medical, dietary, and cultural needs.
- Food Rescue & Environmental Impact: Through partnerships with Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods, and Safeway, FFA rescues around 90,000 lbs. of food annually, preventing waste and reducing methane emissions.
- Community Partnerships: FFA extends its reach by distributing bulk food to five community-based organizations, including churches and a tenants’ association.
FAM: Food as Medicine
FFA’s FAM program—short for both Food as Medicine and Family—reflects our belief that wellness begins with nourishment and care. Like any family, we ensure each client has a voice in shaping their experience. Through FAM, participants receive medically tailored groceries, holistic wellness tools, and supportive connections. The program has already yielded strong results, including improved energy, reduced stress, and measurable health gains such as lower A1C levels.
